Barçın: Finance Ministry Is Breaking the Law, PM Is Complicit

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Devrim Barçın has accused the Ministry of Finance of violating the Customs and Excise Law by increasing fees 26-fold through a Council of Ministers decision, calling it a clear breach of the law.

Barçın stated that the decision, dated 30 April 2025, exceeds legal limits and was enacted via an unlawful regulation. He emphasized that despite the explicit provisions of the law, the Council of Ministers proceeded with this regulation, which he described as illegal.
He further asserted that legal action will be initiated against those responsible and called for the immediate annulment of the regulation. Barçın claimed that Finance Minister Alişan Şan and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel became accomplices to this crime by signing the decision.
