Akıncı shared his January 7, 2025, statement once more, clearly stating that he will not stand for the presidency. In his message, he said:

As the presidential election approaches, it is natural for people to seek candidates they believe can represent them properly. In this context, I have observed that a campaign for my candidacy has been initiated on social media, and as before, I have started to receive related questions. Therefore, I am re-publishing my statement from January 7, 2025.

On this occasion, I also extend my greetings for the May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Our future will be shaped by well-educated youth who believe in a democratic, secular system, who are consistent in word and deed, and who have internalized the principles of peace and freedom. Encouraging young candidates with these qualities for the presidency is the healthiest path forward.

My January 7, 2025 statement:

CANDIDACY IS NOT AN OPTION

I believe the highest position a politician can hold is the place they occupy in the hearts of the people. After every office I have left, in every meeting with our citizens, I have strongly felt the place they gave me in their hearts. For this, I am grateful to all our people. Beyond this heartfelt place, I have no ambition for any other office; my candidacy for the presidency is out of the question. Due to some media reports, and because I have been receiving questions since this morning, I felt the need to make this statement.’”
