Ataoğlu stated, “Museums are among the most important bridges in carrying our historical heritage to the future. They are unique spaces that reflect the cultural identity of societies and establish a connection between the past and the future. Museums are not only places that display traces of the past but also serve as meeting points for education, culture, and art.

Museums Week, celebrated annually from May 18 to 24, once again reminds us of the importance of preserving this valuable heritage and passing it on to future generations. On this occasion, we aim to highlight the richness of our museums across the country and increase cultural awareness throughout society.

As a ministry, we are determined to continue our efforts to protect and promote our cultural heritage and to implement sustainable projects in the field of museology. Ensuring that our youth and children grow up with a strong sense of historical awareness is among our most important responsibilities.

I would also like to emphasize that during Museums Week, visits to all museums and archaeological sites open in our country on May 18 and 19 will be free of charge for the public.

On this meaningful week, I thank all museum staff and everyone who protects our cultural heritage and invite the public to visit our museums and reconnect with the past.”
