Major Halloumi Market Jordan Bans Imports

President of the Dairy Products Manufacturers Association (SÜİB), Mahmut Erden, announced that Jordan—one of the largest markets for halloumi—has imposed a total ban on the import of halloumi and grill cheese as of 13 May.

Erden stated that containers prepared for export to Jordan are now stuck at the ports of Mersin and Famagusta. He added that Jordan is the third country lost in the Middle East market following Qatar and Lebanon.
Calling for government support to overcome the crisis, Erden stressed the urgent need to explore alternative markets.
