12 Fires and 20 Rescue Operations in One Week

According to the Fire Department’s report for the week of 12–18 May, damages from fires amounted to TL 1,575,000. In addition to the fires, the department responded to 20 special service incidents, including animal rescues and judicial transfers.

A total of 12 fires broke out over the past week, the report revealed. The likely causes included electrical short circuits, deliberate burning by individuals, sparks from power lines coming into contact due to wind, grease igniting in active kitchen extractor systems, discarded cigarette butts, chemical reactions in tightly bound hay bales, and candles left burning unattended.
Special service operations recorded during the week involved precautionary fire measures, rescuing cats trapped in vehicle engines, saving dogs from irrigation ponds, retrieving a goat that had fallen into a well, and transferring deceased individuals to hospital for judicial investigations.
