Tatar Thanks Erdoğan for Defending TC Rights at OTS Summit

In a written statement, President Tatar said:
“On behalf of myself and the Turkish Cypriot people, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his speech at the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, in which he, as always, resolutely defended the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.”

Tatar emphasized that Erdoğan’s words underscored the solidarity between the Turkish Cypriot people and the wider Turkic world:
“As President Erdoğan clearly stated, strengthening the solidarity with the Turkish Cypriot people—an inseparable part of the Turkic world—and continuing to support our struggle for rights, freedom, and justice without deviating from what is right, carries great meaning and value for us. A family photo of the Turkic world without the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will always remain incomplete.”

Tatar also welcomed the decision taken at the summit to grant observer status to the TRNC in the Turkic Academy, and Erdoğan’s remarks expressing hope that the TRNC would soon be granted full membership in the organization.

Furthermore, Tatar noted the supportive remarks made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during the OTS Informal Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Budapest:
“Minister Fidan stated, ‘We believe it is our shared responsibility to act in solidarity with our Turkish Cypriot brothers, who have been subjected to unjust and inhumane isolation for decades. The TRNC, accepted as an observer member of our organization at the Samarkand Summit, is an integral part of our family assembly.’ These statements have deeply honored us.”

Tatar concluded by reiterating his gratitude:
“On this occasion, I once again extend my deepest thanks, on behalf of myself and the Turkish Cypriot people, to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan for their sincere and unwavering support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its people.”
