Two Workers Injured in Separate Workplace Accidents

Two separate workplace accidents in Kyrenia and Karaağaç have left two workers injured, one of them seriously. A construction worker suffered a broken foot, while a waiter was severely injured in an elevator accident and remains in intensive care. Police investigations are ongoing in both cases.

Elevator Accident in Kyrenia

According to police, the first accident took place around 5:30 p.m. on 21 May 2025 at a business in Kyrenia. Uğur Kılıçsallayan, a 25-year-old waiter, was seriously injured when a service elevator he was exiting suddenly plummeted. He was initially treated at Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Near East University Hospital for further care.

Construction Injury in Karaağaç

The second incident occurred on 22 May 2025 at approximately 5:00 p.m. at a construction site in the English Quarter of Karaağaç. While descending stairs, 36-year-old construction worker Ahmet Yurtseven twisted his ankle. At the same time, a metal air conditioning bracket he was holding fell onto his foot. He was taken to Dr. Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia, where doctors diagnosed a fracture in his left foot. He remains under observation in the orthopedics department.
