Holguin made the remarks following a meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, emphasizing a shared commitment to work intensively ahead of the next round of talks scheduled for July.

According to Kathimerini.com.cy, Holguin met with Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on Monday morning. After the 75-minute meeting, Holguin told the press she was pleased to be back on the island and reaffirmed her determination to help move the process forward constructively.

“We Agreed to Work Intensively”

Holguin said that both she and Christodoulides agreed on the need to work intensively between now and the July meeting, which will be held with the participation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The goal, she said, is to yield results based on the CBMs that were mutually agreed upon in March.

When asked to clarify what she meant by “tangible results,” Holguin responded, “It refers to the confidence-building measures we agreed upon in March. We want to enter the July meeting with concrete outcomes on those measures, and I will be working here in the coming days to achieve that. We’ll see what happens.”

She noted that the Geneva discussions took place in a positive atmosphere and that both sides reached consensus on a series of CBMs. Holguin also underlined that Secretary-General Guterres remains committed to energizing the Cyprus peace process and is determined to see substantive progress by July.
