Suspects Arrested for Theft of CTP Leader Tufan Erhürman’s Mobile Phone

Two individuals, Fuat Özkurt and Deniz Özkılıç, have been identified and arrested in connection with the theft of a mobile phone belonging to Tufan Erhürman, leader of the Republican Turkish Party (TP). The suspects were brought before the court, where Police Officer Mustafa Göztaşı presented the case details.

According to police testimony, the incident occurred on May 24, 2025, at 8:40 PM at a restaurant in Gönyeli, where Erhürman’s phone was stolen. An investigation of security camera footage revealed that the two suspects were responsible for the theft.

Police stated that both suspects were taken into custody and that the phone has not yet been recovered. Noting that the investigation is ongoing, the police requested an extension of the suspects’ detention for an additional three days.

During the court proceedings, the suspects claimed they had found the phone and waited for someone to call, but asserted that the device’s screen was broken.

After reviewing the testimony, Judge Nuray Necdet ordered that the suspects remain in police custody for three more days as the investigation continues.
