During the visit, which included DISY MPs and other officials, Dimitriu met with members of the Maronite community who remain “enclaved” in villages resettled within the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). She particularly praised the strength, sacrifice, and silent resistance of a mother who stayed in the north after 1974.

Dimitriu said the visit aimed to listen to the Maronites living in the TRNC and to “make their voices heard.” She added, “It is our duty to support those who keep hope alive and insist on maintaining the country. We do not forget; we will not accept a divided homeland.”

Touching on the Cyprus issue’s new phase, Dimitriu emphasized, “It is our responsibility to seize every opportunity for a just, sustainable, and comprehensive solution.”
