Erhürman Demands Government to End Authority Disputes or Resign

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Leader Tufan Erhürman sharply criticized the government during his speech in Parliament today, saying, “We are facing a structure that just wants to be done and gone.”

Highlighting the authority dispute between the Minister of Education and the Minister of Transportation at the parliamentary podium, Erhürman said, “If there is still a debate here about which authority—Transportation or Education Ministry—controls student transportation, then pack up your things and leave.”
Erhürman described the government’s discussions as “shocking,” questioning how the country was allowed to reach such a state. He referred to the Education Minister’s remarks instructing the Transportation Minister on jurisdiction over vehicle inspections, emphasizing that if Transportation Ministry has no authority over inspections, then the Education Ministry cannot intervene either.
Noting that the bill under discussion was an urgent matter introduced by the government itself, Erhürman said, “Both the Transportation and Education Ministers are part of this government.” He recalled a recent bus accident and expressed concern that, while a bill addressing the issue was being debated, the two ministers publicly argued over authority.
“This kind of dispute is unprecedented,” Erhürman stated. “We are dealing with a ‘let’s get this over with and leave’ attitude, but this country cannot endure that. If there is still debate over which ministry handles student transportation, then just pack up and go.”
Erhürman underscored that such matters are the Cabinet’s collective responsibility and suggested that illegal transportation has been ongoing for four years under this government, citing even the Education Minister’s acknowledgment.
He concluded by stressing that this clear admission of failure is now recorded in parliamentary records.
