‘Title Deed’ Option Removed from Real Estate Platforms

Following the recent arrests in South Cyprus related to property ownership—which have extended to include individuals with equivalent property claims—real estate platforms have removed the “title deed” filter option from their listings.

According to information obtained by Kıbrıs Postası, the move was taken by platform administrators to both protect Turkish Cypriot property holders and prevent Greek Cypriot authorities from accessing specific information.
The removal of the “title deed” filter, previously used to identify property ownership status, has not gone unnoticed by users of the platforms where property sales are conducted.
Sources indicate that this decision followed a series of arrests concerning property-related activities. The targeting of individuals with equivalent property rights or ordinary citizens has caused growing concern in the north.
It is understood that Greek Cypriot authorities have been monitoring these platforms. According to reports, the adjustment to the filter options aims to hinder such monitoring and shield both property holders and business owners involved in property transactions.
Kıbrıs Postası also reported that charges were recently brought against 13 individuals, including Turkish Cypriot citizens. Among them, four are accused of selling equivalent properties, four of purchasing and constructing on such properties, and five are identified as buyers.
