Speaking on Kıbrıs TV, Arıklı said Ercan could be portrayed as if it were a Turkish airport, thus falling under the domestic flight category. “At the very least, just as we handle international mail with the 'Mersin 10 Turkey' postal code, we could label Ercan as Antalya-B or Çukurova-B—essentially a second terminal of a Turkish airport—under the management and guarantee of Turkey’s State Airports Authority (DHMİ), and open it to international traffic,” he explained.

Arıklı emphasized that if such a status is achieved, ticket pricing would be subject to minimum and maximum fare regulations, as is the case with domestic flights in Turkey, which would prevent airlines from arbitrarily setting high prices. He stressed that this move could lead to significantly lower ticket costs for travelers.
