Ioannidis: Diplomatic Efforts Continue for a Solution to the Cyprus Problem

Nikolas Ioannidis, the Deputy Minister for Migration and International Protection of the Republic of Cyprus, stated that diplomatic efforts are ongoing for the resolution of the Cyprus problem, expressing confidence that through national unity, a free and prosperous Cyprus can be secured for future generations.

According to Fileleftheros, Ioannidis made the remarks during a memorial ceremony dedicated to Greek Cypriots originating from “Kondemenos” (Kılıçaslan), where he emphasized that the Greek Cypriot side would never accept division, the presence of occupation troops, or what he described as violations of the Republic of Cyprus’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He claimed that under the leadership of President Nikos Christodoulides, the Greek Cypriot administration continues its efforts toward a “just, viable, and functional” settlement to the Cyprus issue. Ioannidis further asserted that what he referred to as the Turkish occupation, ongoing for more than 50 years, constitutes a clear violation of international law.
He concluded by reiterating the desire for a solution that would ensure human rights and fundamental freedoms for all legal residents of Cyprus within the framework of a modern European state.
