11 Fires and 19 Rescue Operations Reported Last Week

A total of 11 fires and 19 special rescue operations were recorded across the country between May 26 and June 1, according to a weekly report released by the Fire Department. The fires caused an estimated ₺1,564,000 in damages.

The likely causes of the fires included electrical short circuits, overloaded electrical systems, residual embers in barbecue chimneys igniting, sparks from fireplaces setting carpets alight, cigarette butts discarded without being fully extinguished, and fuel leaking from vehicle engines and catching fire upon contact with hot components.
The 19 rescue operations involved a range of emergency situations, including:
-
Rescuing individuals trapped in elevators,
-
Freeing cats stuck in car engines, behind composite paneling, on rooftops, and inside rainwater drainage pipes,
-
Rescuing a person who had fallen into a septic tank, and
-
Transporting deceased individuals to hospitals for judicial investigations.
The Fire Department reiterated its call for heightened public awareness and preventative measures to reduce fire hazards and ensure safety in both residential and public spaces.
