Harmancı: “Our Decisions Will Determine Our Place in History”
Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB), Mehmet Harmancı, stated in a social media post that “a new day, a new world is being built,” adding, “Our decisions will determine our place in history.”
Harmancı emphasized that individual power alone would not be sufficient, noting, “The responsibility we bear is immense—not something we can carry alone, nor is the ground around us entirely smooth.”
Highlighting the need for collective effort, Harmancı said, “We must succeed together,” and stressed that everyone must assume historical responsibility to create a country where the people's children can dream once again.
His statement came shortly after the National Unity Party (UBP), the Democratic Party (DP), and the Rebirth Party (YDP) jointly announced their support for incumbent President Ersin Tatar as their common candidate for a second term under the “Consensus of Common Sense” platform.
Following this political development, Harmancı’s remarks—emphasizing unity and collective action—sparked interest among left-wing circles.
