Two Injured and One Arrested in Separate Traffic Accidents

Two people were injured and one person was arrested in three separate traffic accidents that occurred in Nicosia and Kyrenia. Police investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Drunk Driver Loses Control
According to information from the police press office, at around 7:30 a.m. on Dr. Fazil Kucuk Boulevard in Nicosia, a vehicle with license plate RM 789, driven by 29-year-old Özlem Bayandursun under the influence of 63 milligrams of alcohol, lost control while approaching the BRT offices. The vehicle veered to the left side of the road and collided with roadside poles. No injuries were reported. Legal action has been initiated against Bayandursun for “driving under the influence” and “causing a traffic accident.” The investigation is ongoing.
Motorcycle Rider Breaks Ankle
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on Semih Sancar Street in Kyrenia, a motorcycle with license plate YJ 473, driven by 53-year-old Hakan Aydos, collided with the rear of a sedan car, license plate PM 386, driven by Fatma Ceylan Civelek, who was waiting to turn right with her signal on. As a result of the collision, Aydos sustained a fracture in his right ankle. He received treatment at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital and was discharged. The investigation continues.
Red Light Violation Leads to Accident, Driver Arrested
At around 9:00 p.m. on Dr. Fazil Kucuk Boulevard in Nicosia, 19-year-old Yunus Emre Parlak, driving vehicle RH 478 without a license or insurance, failed to stop at a red light while approaching the Ataturk Stadium roundabout and continued driving. He collided with a motorcycle, license plate LP 539, driven by Abdul Rehman, who was proceeding on a green light. The injured motorcyclist received first aid at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital and was placed under observation. Parlak was arrested on charges of “driving without a license and insurance” and “causing a traffic accident.” The investigation is ongoing.
