Küçük: 15 Casino Licences Were Previously Granted by CTP
Hasan Küçük, National Unity Party (UBP) Member of Parliament for Kyrenia, has addressed the ongoing public debate surrounding the Draft Bill to Amend the Games of Chance Law, emphasising that the key issue is not who granted casino licences, but how the sector is regulated.
Küçük pointed out that the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), which is now voicing criticism, had previously issued 15 casino licences itself. “The same CTP that is criticising today personally granted 15 casino licences in the past,” he stated.
He also noted that during committee discussions, CTP representatives had proposed allowing Turkish Cypriot citizens to enter casinos as part of “responsible gaming policies.” Küçük criticised what he described as a contradiction, saying, “They are now opposing in the General Assembly and in public what they themselves suggested in committee.”
