Complaint Filed Over Ahsen Nur Kilitçioğlu’s Suspicious Death
The family and legal representatives of Ahsen Nur Kilitçioğlu, whose body was found on Silver Beach, have submitted a formal complaint to the Police General Directorate's Inspection Board, calling for justice and an effective investigation into her suspicious death.
Ahsen Nur Kilitçioğlu, 26, was found dead on May 30 at Silver Beach. Her family and lawyers held a press conference today in front of the Police General Directorate, stating that no effective investigation has been carried out in the days since the incident.
Lawyer Tacan Reynar said he personally approached the Famagusta Police Chief on Wednesday but was met with inappropriate behaviour. “Ahsen’s mobile phone still hasn’t been found. There is a serious loss of confidence in the Famagusta Police Department. The fact that Ahsen’s boyfriend is a police officer further deepens the suspicions,” Reynar stated.
Reynar announced that a formal application was being submitted to the Police Inspection Board. “Life is the most fundamental right. We believe Ahsen’s right to life was taken from her, and yet we are still not seeing an effective investigation,” he said.
Lawyer Cansu Nazlı, representing Ahsen’s sisters, said the family’s concerns over the investigation are growing by the day. “Suspicious deaths of women must be thoroughly investigated,” she said.
Nazlı also recalled that the death of Güldeniz, who died in the same area last year, remains unresolved. “We cannot bring Ahsen back. But if someone is responsible for her death, revealing the truth is a duty—not only for us as lawyers but for all women,” she added.
Following the statement, the lawyers and the family formally submitted their application to the Police General Directorate.
