EL-SEN Launches “Calculate Your Bill” App to Expose Illegal Overcharging by Property Owners
The Electricity Authority Employees’ Union (EL-SEN) has introduced a new application called “Calculate Your Bill” on its website.
Union officials highlighted that some property owners have been illegally using “filtered meters” to charge tenants exorbitant prices for electricity. This new service allows all subscribers to accurately calculate their real electricity bills.
Officials also reiterated their long-standing criticism of the unnecessarily inflated electricity prices resulting from the guaranteed purchase contract signed with the private company AKSA. Through the new app, citizens can clearly see how much extra they pay monthly due to AKSA’s involvement.
EL-SEN emphasized that public electricity service is legally the exclusive responsibility of KIB-TEK, but due to years of negligence and tolerance by authorities, the illegal use of “filtered meters” by some property owners to sell electricity at excessive prices to tenants has become a reality. The union aims to inform tenants affected by this situation through the “Calculate Your Bill” app.
