Üstel Condemns Israeli Attack: “This Attack Is Unacceptable”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel strongly condemned the Israeli military’s attack on the Madleen ship, which was en route to the Gaza Strip carrying humanitarian aid and included 12 human rights defenders on board.

In his statement, Üstel said, “I strongly condemn the attack carried out by Israeli forces against the Madleen ship, which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza and included 12 human rights defenders, among them Turkish citizens.”
Calling the incident a violation of human rights and international law, he added, “This intervention against volunteers who set out to raise global awareness of the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to support the local population is contrary to human rights and international law. An attack on a civilian vessel on a humanitarian mission is absolutely unacceptable.”
Prime Minister Üstel emphasized, “As the Turkish Cypriot people, we have always stood with justice and human rights and will continue to do so. The international community must no longer remain silent in the face of such unlawful acts and must take the necessary measures. On behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people, I extend my best wishes to all the volunteers on the ship and reaffirm our solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
