In a press release addressing recent rulings by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) concerning the IPC, the Cyprus Green Party asserted that the commission legitimizes the alleged usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in the TRNC. The party stated that Turkey bears direct responsibility for these actions, referring to it as an occupying power.

The statement also criticized the presidential complex recently built by Turkey in the TRNC, urging the government of the Republic of Cyprus to take immediate diplomatic action. “Even if belated, necessary steps must be taken. Intervene with the UN Secretary-General and the embassies of relevant countries. Visiting the ‘Palace’ built on usurped land is equivalent to being complicit in the crime,” the party stated, referring to an upcoming visit by UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy María Ángela Holguín.

The Green Party further claimed that the “usurpation process” accelerated during the period of the Annan Plan, expressing disappointment that the Republic of Cyprus has not initiated any legal proceedings over the years.
