Man Fined 173,876 TL for Forcing Donkey to Eat Cigarette in Karpaz
A man who offered a cigarette to a donkey and caused it to consume the cigarette in the Karpaz region has been fined 173,876 Turkish Lira under the Animal Welfare Law.
Kemal Basat, Director of the Taşkent Nature Park, announced the fine in a statement shared on social media. He noted that following a complaint, police quickly identified the perpetrator and brought him in for questioning. The Veterinary Department then issued a fine equivalent to four times the minimum wage—amounting to 173,876 TL—under the authority of the Animal Welfare Law.
Basat thanked both the Veterinary Department staff for enforcing the law and the officers at the Karpaz Police Station for swiftly identifying the offender and taking appropriate action.
