Estate Agent Arrested for Defrauding Investor of €349,000 in Kyrenia

A 38-year-old estate agent identified as D.W.B. was arrested at Ercan Airport after allegedly defrauding a property investor of more than €349,000. The suspect is accused of falsely claiming he could resell an apartment that had already been sold, as part of a real estate investment scheme in Kyrenia.

According to a statement from the police press office, the incident occurred between 22 May and 1 August 2023. During this period, D.W.B. acted as an intermediary in the sale of three apartments from an ongoing housing project in Tatlısu and Famagusta. However, investigations revealed that one of the units he offered had already been sold to another individual back in 2021.
Using false statements to gain the investor’s trust, D.W.B. managed to secure a total of €349,305 from the victim. The scam came to light following a complaint, prompting a police investigation. D.W.B. was apprehended on 12 June 2025 upon entering the country through Ercan Airport.
Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
