The 47th Güzelyurt Orange Festival, organized by the Güzelyurt Municipality, began yesterday evening with an opening ceremony held at the Amphitheatre. Before the ceremony, a colorful parade took place along the route from Kurtuluş Primary School to Festival Park, filling the city center with vibrant scenes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Öztürkler noted the festival’s 47th anniversary and reflected on the development in Güzelyurt, saying that in his 47 years, he had rarely seen such intense service provision in the area. He recalled the past lack of a hospital and the hardship of losing patients during transport, calling it a difficult period. He announced that the long-awaited hospital would open before November 15, marking a significant step in local healthcare.

Öztürkler also addressed agricultural challenges, including problems caused by the absence of cold storage facilities, and stated that infrastructure projects have greatly alleviated regional difficulties. He stressed that no neighbourhood or village in the area has been left untouched by these efforts.

On sovereignty and international status issues, Öztürkler expressed strong support for the policies pursued by both the government and the President, based on the principle of sovereign equality.

He concluded with a firm declaration that Güzelyurt will never again be placed on the negotiation table.
