Speaking to the Turkish News Agency Cyprus (TAK), Prime Ministry Undersecretary and Head of the Disaster and Emergency Committee Hüseyin Cahitoğlu said that firefighting teams remain on site to carry out cooling operations.

Cahitoğlu noted that carob, olive, and pine trees were among the vegetation affected by the fire, which spread not only through forested areas but also across steep and rugged terrain. These inaccessible areas were tackled using a helicopter stationed in the TRNC.

He explained that although the fire was contained by the evening, crews stayed in the area as a precaution, and flare-ups that occurred overnight were swiftly dealt with.

Cahitoğlu reminded that the response to the fire involved coordination between the Forest Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Fire Department, Civil Defence Organization, Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Command, Security Forces Command, the police, and local municipalities. He stressed that, as always, the state had mobilised all available resources to fight the blaze.
