Toros: Frozen Conflicts Can Reignite Anytime

CTP MP Fikri Toros has warned that so-called "frozen conflicts" are never truly dormant, stressing the urgent need for multilateral diplomatic mechanisms to resolve the Cyprus issue.

In a statement addressing the rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, Toros said these developments painfully illustrate how unresolved political issues can reignite at any moment.
Posting on social media, Toros wrote: “The rapidly escalating tension between Iran, Israel, and the United States has revealed, in the harshest terms, that what we call ‘frozen conflicts’ are in fact never frozen and may flare up at any time.”
He emphasised that such crises serve as a stark reminder to both the region and the wider international community that no political problem will resolve itself. In this context, he argued that strengthening multilateral, diplomacy-based mechanisms for a solution in Cyprus is no longer optional but an obligation.
For lasting peace, Toros concluded, leaders who are willing to shoulder the responsibility of initiating meaningful negotiations must come to the fore.
