Konuwa was arrested during an operation conducted by the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate at a residence in the Kızılbaş area of Nicosia. Police officer Fezile Kesat presented the case details in court.

105 Grams of Drugs Seized at Residence

According to police, the raid took place on 13 June 2025, during which officers discovered approximately 85 grams of cannabis, 20 grams of synthetic cannabinoid, a precision scale with drug residue, and ₺6,600 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. All items were seized as evidence.

Suspect Admits to the Crime

The police stated that Konuwa was arrested and taken into custody, with the court previously granting two extensions totaling nine days. During this period, the substances were sent for analysis, and results were returned earlier this week. Konuwa admitted to the charges, saying he had purchased 96 grams of cannabis, sold 13 grams for ₺6,600, and bought the synthetic cannabinoid (bonzai) for ₺10,000.

Residing Illegally Since November 2023

Police further revealed that Konuwa had been living in the country without a residence permit since 23 November 2023. Authorities therefore requested that he be held in custody pending trial.

In court, Konuwa expressed remorse and claimed he had no intention of selling the drugs, stating he had purchased them to use at a party he was planning.

After reviewing the evidence, Judge Nuray Necdet ordered that the suspect remain in custody for 80 days.
