Stefanu: “Israel Is Occupying Cyprus”
AKEL Secretary-General Stefanos Stefanu has warned of what he described as a growing threat posed by uncontrolled Israeli land purchases in the southern part of the island. “Our country is slipping away. Israel is occupying us,” he declared.
Speaking during his party’s congress, Stefanu claimed that Israeli citizens are acquiring critical properties and land in locations that pose a risk to national security. “A major danger is on the way,” he said, adding that Israelis are creating closed-off zones by establishing Zionist schools and synagogues.
“We are witnessing a structured and organized process where Israelis are acquiring key economic assets and vast areas of land in Cyprus,” Stefanu warned.
Social media posts from AKEL linked to the congress echoed the message, using phrases such as “New Israel” and “The new country occupied by Israel.”
