Speaking to Haber Kıbrıs, Tatar reaffirmed his commitment to the political philosophy of Rauf Denktaş. “I proudly stand by my statement that I am a student of Mr. Denktaş. I have studied his legacy—from UN transcripts to his books—and I have internalized and implemented his vision in my political career. The two-state solution was his dream, and it is the foundation of my political struggle,” Tatar stated.

Recalling his family’s ties to Rauf Denktaş and his long acquaintance with Serdar Denktaş, Tatar said, “My father worked with Mr. Denktaş for many years. I have known Serdar Denktaş since childhood, and we served in the same political camp for many years. Differences in opinion are natural in politics. Everyone is free to express their views, and I respect that.”

He added that Serdar Denktaş's remarks should not be exaggerated. “Mr. Denktaş is not my enemy. I do not see him as an adversary. On the contrary, I have deep respect for the Denktaş name, for our late leader Rauf Denktaş, and the legacy he represents.”

Tatar emphasized his willingness to speak with Serdar Denktaş directly, noting his intention to reach out in person to discuss the matter.

Reiterating his commitment to the two-state solution, Tatar concluded: “This vision is not mine alone—it is the continuation of the position Rauf Denktaş defended for years. Alongside Turkey, I am a committed politician working to uphold the TRNC and pass it on to future generations with honor.”

He concluded by underlining the importance of unity: “The unity, will, and peace of our people are more important than any personal dispute.”
