CTP MP Raises Concerns Over Exceptional Citizenship Practice

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Ürün Solyalı made significant remarks regarding the government’s exceptional citizenship policy.

Speaking on Sim TV, Solyalı said that in the coming months, when voter lists are posted, they have concrete evidence of 20-30 voters registered at a single address.
“When the voter lists are posted, we receive information that 20-30 people are registered at one house, one address. This information is very concrete. We will carefully challenge these cases. We claim that these registrations should not be accepted as voters,” he stated.
Solyalı emphasized that the exceptional citizenship practice has not only social and economic consequences but also harms the democratic process.
“Citizenship is not only about causing economic and social problems. It is also about interference with the will. You can grant citizenship to 20 people living at one address, and that is interference with the will,” Solyalı said.
