Police officer Ali Yeşildal presented the case in court, stating that in April 2006, Boztaş was working as a waiter at a restaurant in Gönyeli when he allegedly failed to return two mobile phones he had borrowed from colleagues. The first phone, a Nokia 6100 valued at 400 TL, was reportedly taken on April 17, 2006. The second, a Nokia 6230 worth 350 TL, was allegedly taken the same day.

The suspect is said to have left the TRNC on April 22, 2006. Upon his return via Ercan Airport on June 25, 2025, he was detained by police.

Officer Yeşildal informed the court that the investigation is ongoing and further statements are expected. He requested that Boztaş be held in custody for one day during the initial stage of the investigation.

Speaking in court, Boztaş denied the charges.

Judge Nuray Necdet ordered that the suspect remain in custody for one day.
