“Fake Diploma” Trial Postponed to September 1

Barış Sel, former Famagusta Police Chief, and Serdal Gündüz, Secretary-General and shareholder of the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KTSÜ), appeared before the Nicosia Assize Court in connection with the ongoing "fake diploma" investigation. The trial has been postponed to Monday, September 1.

The university, based in Güzelyurt, has been at the center of a major scandal involving forged diplomas. Both defendants are being tried without detention.
Representing the defense, lawyer Buse Asena Uluğ appeared in court on behalf of attorneys Doğa Zeki and Mustafa Asena.
At the preliminary hearing held earlier at the Güzelyurt District Court, two witnesses testified and 24 exhibits were submitted. Barış Sel faces 20 charges, while Serdal Gündüz is charged in 14 separate cases.
