Court Cancels Lapta Marina Project Over Legal Violations

The High Administrative Court has annulled the Lapta Marina Project, citing deficiencies in its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and violations of public procurement and environmental laws. The court also ruled that legal expenses incurred by the plaintiff be covered by the defendant.

The lawsuit, filed by the Green Peace Movement, challenged the legality of the project approved by the Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality. The court had previously issued an interim order suspending the project. Following a legal process that spanned three years, the court has now delivered a final verdict cancelling the project.
The Green Peace Movement's Secretary-General Feriha Tel welcomed the ruling, while municipal officials, including Mayor Fırat Ataser, are currently reviewing the outcome.
During the proceedings, the municipality was represented by lawyer Leyla Bahar, and the Green Peace Movement by lawyer Buse Günsoy.
