Dates Set for Holguín’s London and Brussels Visits

UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Cyprus María Ángela Holguín is scheduled to resume her Cyprus-related engagements starting early next week. According to information obtained by Fileleftheros, Holguín will visit London on Tuesday, July 1, and Brussels on Wednesday, July 2.

In London, Holguín is expected to meet with Stephen Doughty, the UK Foreign Office’s Europe and North America minister, who will represent the UK at the upcoming informal five-party meeting in New York.
In Brussels, she will discuss coordination and cooperation methods with European Council President António Costa. Johannes Hahn, appointed by the European Commission, will also attend the meeting.
Following her initial visit to the island, Holguín will return to Cyprus after her trips to London and Brussels.
Greek Cypriot National Council to Convene on July 3
Haravgi reported that Greek Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides has called the Greek Cypriot National Council to meet on Thursday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. as part of preparations for the new expanded informal Cyprus talks in New York.
According to the newspaper, Greek Cypriot spokesman Konstantinos Letimbiyotis shared on the “X” platform that Christodoulides will update political parties on recent developments regarding the Cyprus issue and preparations for the UN-led talks scheduled for July.
Letimbiyotis emphasized that the Greek Cypriot side’s priority is to resume substantive negotiations from where they were interrupted, within the framework set by UN Security Council resolutions.
