Date Set for Cyprus Summit: All Eyes on July 16–17 in New York

The long-anticipated informal five-party meeting on the Cyprus issue is expected to take place on July 16–17 in New York, according to sources close to the TRNC Presidency.

Two days prior to the summit, on July 14, United Nations Special Representative for Cyprus Colin Stewart is expected to present a comprehensive report to the UN Security Council. The report will reportedly cover the operations of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and offer an assessment of the UN Secretary-General’s Good Offices Mission on the island.
Diplomatic sources suggest that the content of Stewart’s report may lay the groundwork for the summit and could lead to a reshaping of the parties’ positions ahead of the meeting in New York.
