Hungarian Teenager on Life Support After Assault in Ayia Napa
A 17-year-old Hungarian national is in critical condition on life support at Nicosia General Hospital following an assault in Ayia Napa, police said.
The Famagusta Police Department is investigating charges of assault and causing grievous bodily harm after the teenager was attacked by a group of individuals whilst walking with a friend on Agias Mavris Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police received reports of the injured person at approximately 06:30 local time on 2 July, with the victim subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance. The assault resulted in a fractured jaw, and the severity of his injuries required intubation.
Preliminary witness testimony indicates the Hungarian teenager was walking with a companion when the group attacked him. Police believe the perpetrators are foreign nationals, though investigations remain ongoing.
Police are investigating the case.
