Five Separate Fires Break Out in a Single Day

Five separate fires broke out across the country on July 2, 2025, each caused by different incidents ranging from dry grass ignition to household accidents and machinery faults. All fires were brought under control by fire crews without any loss of life, though material damage was reported. Police announced that investigations into all incidents are ongoing.

40 Dunums of Land Burned in Beyköy
The first fire occurred around 13:00 in a hilly area west of Beyköy. Approximately 40 dunums of dry grass, bushes, and shrubland were scorched before the fire was extinguished by fire crews.

Electrical Fire in Restaurant Kitchen in Kyrenia
At 16:00, a fire broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant on Ecevit Street in Kyrenia. According to initial findings, the blaze was caused by overheating and sparking of fryer cables. A fryer, water cooler, and various kitchen appliances were damaged.

Gas Leak Sparks Apartment Fire in Hamitköy
At around 18:00, a gas leak from a stove in an apartment in Hamitköy ignited the third fire of the day. The fire, extinguished by the residents, damaged the stove, TV remote, kitchen cabinets, extractor hood, and the oven’s electrical wiring.

Combine Harvester Catches Fire Between Yedikonuk and Balalan
The fourth fire occurred at 19:00 between the villages of Yedikonuk and Balalan. A combine harvester operated by Mehmet Sait Alten caught fire due to an electrical short circuit while harvesting barley. Parts of the machine, including cables and hoses, were damaged.

Electrical Pole Fire in Haspolat
The final fire of the day broke out at 23:30 outside a residence in Haspolat. An overloaded electrical system caused a short circuit, igniting a blaze that damaged an electrical panel, meter, fuses, one metre of armored cable, and a wooden utility pole.

Police stated that investigations into all five incidents are still underway.
