Prime Minister Üstel: None of Our Promises Have Been Left Unfulfilled

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasised that all government promises had been kept, declaring, “None of our promises have been left unfulfilled. We will keep moving forward.” Üstel, who is also the leader of the National Unity Party (UBP), met with residents during visits to the villages of Şirinevler, Dağyolu, and Pınarbaşı.

His remarks highlighted themes of implementation, development, and stability, with specific references to joint projects with Turkey, healthcare investments, infrastructure efforts, social support policies, and rural development initiatives.
“None of Our Promises Have Been Left Unfulfilled, We Will Keep Moving Forward”
Warmly welcomed by local residents, Üstel said, “Our only concern is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We have left no project unfinished and we never will. With protocols and the strong support of Motherland Turkey, we are meeting the people's needs one by one.”
Village Mukhtar Pilli Expresses Gratitude
During his visit to Şirinevler, Mukhtar Serkan Pilli thanked Prime Minister Üstel, stating, “Many long-awaited improvements have been made in our village. The deficiencies are being addressed one by one. This is the first time a Prime Minister has shown this level of interest in our village. We are grateful.” The statement received enthusiastic applause from villagers. Üstel responded, “We made promises, and we kept them.”
“Foundation of New Nicosia Hospital to Be Laid in July”
Üstel provided updates on healthcare investments across the country, noting that the tender process and excavation works for the new Nicosia State Hospital had been completed and that the foundation would be laid in July. The hospital will have 320 beds and be fully equipped with modern facilities. He also announced that the existing Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital would be completely renovated.
He highlighted completed or ongoing healthcare projects in all regions, including two hospitals in Kyrenia, Güzelyurt Hospital, Maraş Health Centre, Pamuklu Hospital, and health centres in Lapta and Dikmen. “They said we couldn’t do it — but we did,” Üstel said, responding to opposition criticism. He declared 2026 the “Year of Healthcare” for the TRNC and promised that cooperation with Turkey’s Ministry of Health would address doctor shortages and raise the standard of medical services.
“Cloverleaf Junction to Be Extended to Güzelyurt”
Üstel also commented on infrastructure developments, noting that longstanding projects in Şirinevler and Dağyolu were being completed one by one. He announced that the Cloverleaf Junction would be extended to Güzelyurt in July, significantly easing the region’s traffic burden. “We don’t leave any work unfinished. Most have already been completed, and we will continue investing in our villages,” he said.
Support Packages for Women, Youth, and Producers
Üstel highlighted social support policies, including assistance for women and young people. “On March 8, International Women’s Day, we launched full social security contribution support for TRNC women and introduced long-term, low-interest loan packages to help them start businesses,” he said. He added that businesses employing workers from Turkey or third countries in export, manufacturing, industry, and agriculture sectors were receiving up to 30% support.
“Investing in Youth Is Investing in the Future”
On youth-focused policies, Üstel emphasised the importance of keeping young people connected to the country, highlighting the newly built football pitch in Pınarbaşı as an example. “Through sports facilities, we’re shaping the lives of our youth,” he said.
He also announced an upcoming Cabinet decision on Tuesday concerning rural land plots in the Pınarbaşı region, stating that distributions would begin shortly.
“Stability Brings Investment and Services”
Stressing the importance of political stability, Üstel concluded, “Where governments are strong and stable, services are uninterrupted. With the strong support of Motherland Turkey, we are lifting the TRNC and preparing it for the future in every area. No slowing down — we’re moving forward.”
