Holguin: “We Will Work Very Intensely with the Negotiators”

UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, stated on Monday that she and the negotiators would be working very intensely during the day and again on Wednesday. Her remarks came following a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar.

The meeting, which began at 09:00 at the Presidency, lasted approximately one hour.
Speaking to the press afterwards, Holguín said she was pleased to return to the island in preparation for the upcoming talks scheduled for next week.
She noted that she had a productive meeting with President Tatar and would also meet with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides later in the day.
“We will work very intensely with the negotiators this afternoon and, I believe, also on Wednesday,” Holguín said, adding that the United Nations continues to make efforts for the well-being of the island and a better future for its people.
Holguín expressed her hope that the leaders share the same vision and said she was looking forward to the discussions next week.
