Speaking at the 29th annual general assembly of the Cyprus Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Company (Cypfruvex) held at the company’s headquarters in Kalkanlı, Çavuş underlined the significance of recent investments made both in Cypfruvex and in the wider Güzelyurt region. He credited these efforts for the advancement of local agriculture, particularly the citrus sector.

“From Crisis to Stability”

Minister Çavuş said that over the past three years, Cypfruvex had emerged from its troubled past and was now operating on solid financial footing. He emphasised that the delivery of agricultural water to Güzelyurt had improved the quality and productivity of citrus groves, and that the sector was becoming more efficient and competitive.

Citing the planned construction of a 15,000-ton capacity cold storage facility, Çavuş noted that the preservation and export potential of fresh fruits and vegetables would increase significantly once the project is complete.

“We are steadily advancing in our mission to make Güzelyurt an agricultural city,” said Çavuş, thanking all stakeholders who have contributed to the process.

General Assembly Highlights

The assembly opened with remarks from Cypfruvex Board Chairman Ratip Irıkoğlu, who outlined the company’s mission and reaffirmed its commitment to serving producers.

The meeting, chaired by Ercan Akerzurumlu, saw the presentation and approval of the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 activity and financial reports. Elections were also held for the new board of directors.

Ratip Irıkoğlu was reappointed to the board along with Derviş Dağman, Mustafa Momin, Özel Tahsin, and Bekir Erbekir.
