No Extradition Request for Şener Levent, Foreign Ministry Sources Say

Foreign Ministry sources have denied reports claiming that Turkey has requested the extradition of journalist Şener Levent, saying no such request has been made.

Speaking to the Turkish News Agency-Cyprus (TAK), ministry officials said media claims that a warrant had been issued in Turkey and that Levent’s extradition was being sought from the TRNC were untrue.
Describing the reports as disinformation, the sources clarified that the Turkish Ministry of Justice had not submitted any extradition request concerning Levent.
They explained that Ankara’s Asliye Criminal Court had issued a ruling against Levent, and only requested the notification of that decision — which does not constitute an extradition request.
