Tuğcu: Control of Aksa Kalecik Power Plant Should Be Transferred to KIB-TEK

El-Sen President Ahmet Tuğcu has called for the Aksa Kalecik Power Plant to be brought under the control of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), citing environmental and public health concerns linked to the plant’s aging machinery.

Speaking during a press statement held in front of the Kalecik facility, Tuğcu said the generators in use are 25 to 30 years old and no longer efficient or safe. He stressed the need to end rental payments for these outdated machines, which he said are harmful to both the environment and human health.
Tuğcu also revealed that Aksa regularly issues invoices to KIB-TEK amounting to $30,000–$40,000 each month. He called on authorities to clarify the fate of the fuel delivered to the plant and criticized their ongoing silence on the issue.
Reiterating El-Sen’s stance, Tuğcu urged that full operational control of the Kalecik plant be handed over to KIB-TEK.
