Kürşat: Binboğa Was Deliberately Driven to Collapse

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Fide Kürşat has accused the government of allowing the Binboğa Feed Factory to collapse, despite years of warning signs pointing to severe financial troubles.

Speaking on Kıbrıs Postası TV's "Sabahın Haberleri" programme, Kürşat claimed the factory was “deliberately driven to collapse” through political negligence and lack of oversight.
Kürşat said the financial distress at Binboğa was not a recent development, noting that the factory had been sending out warning signals for years. “This is not a sudden crisis. The problems at Binboğa have been building up for a long time,” she said.
She pointed out that at one stage, control of the factory had passed to the Democratic Party (DP), which was then a coalition partner in government. “At a certain point, Binboğa came under the control of the DP, and was managed by board members appointed by them,” she explained.
"The Problems Intensified After 2021"
Kürşat recalled warning, a year and a half ago, that the factory was on the verge of bankruptcy and would be placed under cheque restrictions if urgent action wasn’t taken. “At the time, they denied these problems existed,” she said.
She also referenced a report that surfaced late last year, which clearly revealed the financial situation at the factory. “The report brought the true picture to light. It should have been reviewed carefully,” she added.
“Political Leaders Also Responsible”
Kürşat asserted that the blame lies not only with the factory’s management but also with political figures who ignored the red flags. “Binboğa wasn’t simply mismanaged—it was driven into the ground while everyone watched,” she said. “DP leader and Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, as well as DP MP Hasan Tosunoğlu, are heavily implicated in what happened at Binboğa.”
She rejected the notion that the arrest of former board members would bring the issue to a close. “This won’t end with the arrest of a few board members,” she stressed.
“A Politically Engineered Collapse”
Describing the situation as fundamentally political, Kürşat said Binboğa was a public institution that had been pushed to the brink by deliberate political choices. “This is a politically driven collapse,” she said.
Kürşat concluded her remarks by stating that the collapse of Binboğa should serve as a warning to all public institutions. “The arrests are a serious warning to those managing other state institutions. Actions have consequences,” she said.
