According to Fileleftheros, Stewart is expected to return to the island before 7 August to bid farewell.

The newspaper reports that Stewart will update the Council on the latest developments regarding UNFICYP operations during a session scheduled for 5 p.m. Cyprus time. Two reports prepared by Stewart are already before the Council, outlining the mission’s activities and the situation on the ground.

The briefing comes amid criticism from the Greek Cypriot Foreign Ministry, which over the weekend expressed dissatisfaction with what it described as an “equal distance” approach in the reports, a stance it said failed to reflect the realities of the situation.

Stewart’s successor has not yet been named, but discussions on his replacement are expected to begin by the end of the summer.
