Eight Fires in One Week Cause Over 1 Million TL in Damages

A total of eight fires and 21 special service incidents were reported across the TRNC over the past week, resulting in damages amounting to 1,190,000 TL.

According to the Fire Department’s weekly report issued by the Police General Directorate covering the period from 7 to 13 July, the fires caused significant material damage, with the majority of incidents attributed to preventable causes.
The report listed the likely causes of the fires as electrical short circuits, discarded cigarette butts, sparks from contact between power lines igniting dry vegetation, and fuel leaks in vehicle engines coming into contact with hot surfaces.
Special service operations during the week included fire prevention measures, rescuing individuals trapped in elevators, freeing cats stuck in vehicle engine compartments, chimneys, or wells, rescuing calves stranded in riverbeds, ensuring road safety, and transporting deceased individuals to hospital for legal examination.
Authorities once again urged the public to exercise caution and take preventive measures, especially during the hot and dry summer season.
