According to Haravgi, the demonstrators distributed leaflets protesting Aykut’s imprisonment and drove a van around the city displaying the message “Free Simon.”

The leaflets claimed that the 75-year-old Aykut is a “political prisoner” in South Cyprus and has been held for over a year without a fair trial. They also emphasized concerns about his deteriorating health due to cancer, stating that he has not received the urgent medical care he requires.

Alithia published a photo report of the protest, showing Aykut's supporters handing out flyers in front of the UN building.
