Eylem: Our Honourable Resistance to Turkey’s Attempts to Reshape Society Will Continue

Eylem stressed that long-standing assimilation and integration policies have now evolved into systematic staffing, encirclement, and colonisation, and emphasised that their honourable resistance against attempts to reshape society—from education to demography—will persist.

Eylem criticised the ceremonies organised by the AKP government, which she said disregard the existence of Turkish Cypriots, and added that politicians are being treated like “servants summoned to obey.” She underscored that successive governments have remained silent on impositions across all sectors, choosing to surrender for the sake of power and profit, and that this has brought about today’s situation.

“Policies of Subordination, Assimilation and Integration Have Been Replaced by Encirclement and Colonisation”

Eylem stated that the long-standing subordination, assimilation and integration policies have now been replaced by direct staffing, encirclement, and colonisation. She described a climate in which mafia figures and contract killers operate freely, institutions, mountains, and coasts are being handed over to green capital, and corruption, theft, and fraud are rampant. Within this context, education is being dragged into backwardness, while foundations, associations, and religious sects are used to transport populations and carry out social engineering.

She emphasised that children are paying the price in this accelerated colonisation process, where the constitution and laws are ignored. She listed various pressures, including political impositions, brainwashing campaigns, curricular changes that disregard women, science and gender equality, ideological camps, and poor conditions.

“We Will Continue Our Honourable Resistance Against Erasure and Colonisation”

Despite all pressures, Eylem said, the Turkish Cypriot community continues its struggle for political equality. She declared that they would resist assimilation and integration efforts by preserving their culture, beliefs, language, and way of life.

She concluded: “We will maintain our honourable resistance against transformation, erasure, exclusion, humiliation, and colonisation. Those who claim to represent the Turkish Cypriot community must either rise to the occasion and take a principled stance, or continue betraying us.”
