Tragic Loss in Limassol: Elderly Couple Dies Trying to Escape Flames

The two people who perished in a burning car during the wildfire in the mountainous regions of Limassol have been identified as an elderly Greek Cypriot couple attempting to flee the advancing flames.

The fire, which broke out yesterday afternoon and spread rapidly across a wide area, engulfed residential zones. The couple was found dead in their vehicle on the Monagri–Alassa road, reportedly trying to reach Limassol as the fire approached.
According to the news outlet Alphanews, the exact identities of the victims will be confirmed through DNA testing with samples from family members.
Meanwhile, Philenews reported that 16 people affected by the blaze were treated in hospitals for respiratory issues and burns. Five remain hospitalized, with two in serious condition.
