Attempted Murder Suspect Sought by Greek Cypriot Police Allegedly Fled to TRNC

Greek Cypriot police continue to search for 48-year-old Marinos Kuruniadis, wanted for attempted murder after allegedly hitting a 61-year-old man with his car and fleeing the scene in the Frenaros area near Famagusta early last Saturday morning. Reports suggest that Kuruniadis may have escaped to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The news website Philenews reported that police shared the suspect’s photo publicly on Saturday and are actively investigating his whereabouts.
According to information obtained by Philenews, Greek Cypriot authorities are exploring the possibility that Kuruniadis crossed into the TRNC through an uncontrolled crossing point. Given the proximity of the Vrisoulles area to the TRNC border, this is considered the most likely scenario.
The British Bases controlling the Strovilya (Akyar) and Pergama (Beyarmudu) checkpoints have been informed of the situation, and similar notices have been sent to other border crossings. Investigations are ongoing within the Greek Cypriot administration to locate the suspect.
